Privacy Policy
VideoCull Privacy Policy
VideoCull is published by StippieDot. The desktop application processes the video folders you choose locally and does not require an account or upload your videos.
Information the application accesses
VideoCull accesses only the folders and files you explicitly open. File names, paths, video content, media metadata, and any people or other personal information visible in a video may therefore be processed by the application.
The bundled FFmpeg and FFprobe tools process those files on your computer to generate thumbnails and metadata. VideoCull uses this information to display, search, sort, compare, and review your videos. It does not upload your videos or local review data to StippieDot.
Local storage, security, and retention
Status decisions, ratings, favorites, bookmarks, settings, recent folders, media metadata, duplicate fingerprints, and thumbnail references are stored in local SQLite databases, configuration files, and thumbnail folders. You can choose the cache location in the application settings.
This data remains on storage you control and is protected by your Windows account and file-system permissions. VideoCull does not add separate encryption or access controls. Cached data remains until you clear it in VideoCull or remove it from disk; uninstalling the application does not automatically remove user-managed cache data.
Network access and disclosure
VideoCull does not sell personal information and does not disclose your videos, file names, paths, metadata, or review decisions to StippieDot, advertisers, or data brokers.
When automatic update checks are enabled, the direct-download edition contacts the official GitHub release service. You can disable automatic checks in Settings. Updates for the Microsoft Store edition are handled by Microsoft Store. These services may receive standard connection information such as your IP address, but VideoCull does not include your videos or local review data in those requests.
Your controls
You choose which folders VideoCull can read and where its cache is stored. You can view and change review data in the application, clear the cache and reload the current folders, disable automatic update checks in the direct-download edition, and remove local cache or configuration files from storage you control.
Marking a video Delete changes its local review status. The source file stays in place until you run and confirm the final delete action.
VideoCull first attempts to send confirmed files to the Windows Recycle Bin. If that fails for some files, the application asks before using a permanent fallback.
This website
The current website does not include analytics, advertising pixels, accounts, forms, or marketing cookies. Its hosting provider may receive and retain standard request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, for security and reliability.
